Shuran is a senior studying Data Science at UC Berkeley. She is interested in the intersection of data science, healthcare, social welfare, and environmental science. Shuran is passionate about creative ideas, research, and deriving insights from all kinds of data – messy, unstructured, big data, etc. In the summer of 2024, Shuran joined BIRCHE Lab on the AAM-LASSI project, to calibrate low-cost air monitors in rural areas of Tamil Nadu, India. In the project, Shuran created visualizations and performed exploratory analysis on a 2-year length air particle dataset, analyzed the correlation between PM2.5 monitored by low-cost monitors and PM2.5 by BAM devices, and integrated Regression and Random Forest models to optimize the calibration results. Fun fact: Shuran has a guinea pig called “pig”. In her free time, Shuran loves to design DND stories, drink tea/boba/coffee, go on an adventure and enjoy nature. This picture is taken at Lake Tahoe.
